Governance & Integrity Aotearoa-New Zealand

We founded Governance & Integrity Aotearoa-NZ in 2026 to help institutions and organisations across the country fulfil their purpose through protecting and increasing their integrity.

We are part of a global family of Governance & Integrity organisations. Our mission is to further the cause of justice through organisational integrity.

As a society, we rely on trust in our public institutions, our organisations, our leaders, and each other. When integrity is strong, organisations make better decisions, communities have greater confidence, and institutions are more effective. When integrity weakens, trust erodes and the ability to serve people suffers.

New Zealand has long been seen as a high-trust society, but that reputation cannot be taken for granted. Maintaining trust requires clear values, strong governance, ethical leadership and systems that help people do the right thing, especially when the choices are difficult.

That’s why Governance & Integrity Aotearoa-NZ exists.

Established in 2026, we help public institutions, organisations and community groups strengthen their integrity so they can better deliver on their purpose and responsibilities. We also aim to bring insights from Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique culture and values to our international practice, thereby helping to progress international understanding of how organisations and societies can ensure they act consistently in accordance with justice, even when the going gets tough.

Integrity within organisations—both as workplaces and as actors within wider society–is part of the way we achieve broader social justice. As Tangata Tiriti, we therefore consider honouring and embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a core responsibility for our organisation. We are committed to an ongoing journey of learning and practice that helps shape how we work, who we work alongside, and the services we provide.

Ma wai taurima nga marae e hora nei? Te tika, te pono, kia mau te aroha.

Who will be the sentries, the pillars of our marae? Justice, integrity and love must be the foundations.

The Integrity System

We work with organisations to strengthen their integrity systems through a collaborative and tailored approach. By assessing existing policies, identifying risks and gaps, and providing practical guidance, we help organisations create systems that support moral decision-making and accountability. Our approach combines moral learning and compliance practices to foster a culture of integrity while preventing and addressing misconduct effectively. Through advisory services and training, we support organisations in developing resilient integrity systems that enable them to focus on fulfilling their mission with confidence.
